Driven by Faith. Dedicated to Our Youth.
Established in February 2017 as an initiative of the Ruth Generation Foundation, Mothers on the Streets (MOTS) is a Christian prayer and action movement dedicated to ending youth violence, gun, and knife crime across London and the wider UK. Our core mandate is to quicken, equip, and empower women to stand together in strong intercession. We regularly take to local residential streets, busy town halls, key community junctions, and major landmarks, bringing direct prayer coverage for the peace, protection, and preservation of our young people.
The movement was founded by Pastor Sarah Bola Oyedele, an MBA graduate, published author, professional charity consultant, and Associate Pastor at Deliverance Outreach Ministry, London. Called to lead and equip women as vessels of honour and restoration, Pastor Bola has been guiding active intercessory prayer networks since 2010. This includes an ongoing prayer chain connecting over 300 women across the region.
Through MOTS, Pastor Bola brings this rich background of spiritual warfare, community leadership, and organisational expertise directly to the frontline. The movement not only addresses street safety through prayer, but also offers a compassionate sanctuary for mothers navigating grief, loss, or the everyday challenges of raising children in high-risk environments. By uniting local women, MOTS builds a resilient shield of intercession and practical care across every neighbourhood.
Our vision & mission
Our Vision: To raise 1,000 women actively and regularly praying on their local streets every week, equipped with the official Mothers On The Street Prayer Brochure.
Intercede for Safety: Standing together weekly to stop youth killings and ensure children can move around safely every day.
Reclaim Our Streets: Transforming high-risk areas, junctions, town halls, and workplaces into spaces of peace and protection.
Break Negative Influences: Praying specifically to break destructive patterns turning young people towards crime, vices, and violence.
Empower Families: Providing practical, emotional, and spiritual support to mothers, including single parents of both victims and perpetrators.
How we operate
Our prayer movement operates on three distinct levels, supported by mini-training sessions to brief and equip every volunteer:
Level 1: City-Wide & Borough Walks (Monthly)
Systematic prayer walks covering North, South, East, and West London, as well as key locations like Trafalgar Square, town halls, junctions, and market places.
Level 2: Residential Street Prayer (Weekly)
Individual mothers and groups covering their own local residential streets on a weekly basis using our structured prayer brochure.
Level 3: MOTS 4 Schools & Workplaces (Daily/Weekly)
Targeted prayer using our 5 Scriptures Prayer Line for 2 to 3 days a week around local schools, as well as daily prayer walks integrated into individual workplaces.
Core Issues We ADDRESS
Gang involvement and cults
Drugs and alcohol addiction
Sexual exploitation and perversion

Interactive Support & Community Care
We believe in pairing spiritual intercession with practical, compassionate care for families affected by street culture:
Hopeline Support: Compassionate guidance, advice, and direct referrals for mothers in distress.
Mother-to-Mother Support Group: A safe, non-judgmental space for mothers of both victims and perpetrators to share, rebuild strength, and gain vital parenting and life skills.
Community Prayer Requests: An open door for local residents to request dedicated prayer walks for their specific street, school, or neighbourhood.
Our Heritage: Ruth Generation Foundation
Mothers on the Streets is a core initiative birthed out of the Ruth Generation Foundation.
While MOTS focuses directly on active street prayer walks, youth dispute intervention, and community safety, it remains deeply rooted in the foundation's broader spiritual legacy.

Our Impact: Faith, Prayer & Changing Streets
While we work alongside community partners and law enforcement, we know that spiritual intercession alters outcomes on the ground. Over nearly a decade of dedicated street coverage, we have witnessed remarkable shifts across our city:
1. Significant Decline in Knife Crime & Violent Offences
16.6% Capital-Wide Reduction: London recorded a 16.6% drop in knife crime—a pivotal milestone given the capital accounts for over a quarter of all knife offences nationally.
Historic Low in Homicides: Knife-enabled homicides fell by 21%, reaching the lowest annual total since records began. Importantly, this decrease occurred without lockdown restrictions, representing a true underlying decline.
Regional Breakthroughs: South West London saw knife crime drop to its lowest level in four years, recording a 22% decrease in 2025/26.
2. Targeted Intercession: Notting Hill Carnival
In 2016—the year before Mothers on the Streets was founded—15 people were stabbed at Notting Hill Carnival, leading Met Police Commanders to warn that the event came dangerously close to a catastrophic public safety disaster.
Starting in 2017, MOTS committed to praying directly over the Carnival grounds a week before the event every single year. Just one year later, in 2018, stabbings dropped dramatically to only one across the entire weekend.
We do not claim prayer is the sole factor, but we firmly believe in a God who answers when mothers unite in faith. We will continue to return to these streets, year after year, until every community in our city is safe.
Community & Economic Impact of MOTS
