📰 National Spotlight: Mothers Gather at Trafalgar Square to End Youth Violence

On 28th February 2024, Keep The Faith Magazine—one of the UK’s leading publications for the Christian community—featured Mothers on the Streets ahead of our landmark 7th Anniversary prayer gathering in the heart of London.

"This Saturday, a group of Christian women, concerned about the rising incidents of knife crime and youth violence in London, will be meeting in Trafalgar Square from 10:30am – 1:30pm to pray for young people engaged in criminal activity and knife violence and calling for it to end." — Keep The Faith Magazine

    Event Summary

The national feature highlighted the core journey of MOTS since its inception in February 2017 under Pastor Bola (Sarah) Oyedele:

    • From Local Streets to Central London Landmarks: What began as a local spiritual response has expanded across town halls, parks, and high-risk hotspots in all 33 London boroughs—including key areas such as Peckham, Leyton, Brixton, and central London.

    • Standing with Grieving Mothers: The article spotlighted Pastor Bola’s dedicated ministry of coming alongside mothers who have suffered the tragic loss of their children to street violence. This includes Sharon Fearon, mother of Shaquan Fearon, who was tragically murdered near his home in Brockley, South East London, in 2015.

    • A Call for Collective Peace: Pastor Bola shared the heart behind the movement with the press:

"Mothers on the Streets was keen to be part of efforts to end knife crime, and felt that one of the ways that we could do so was by organising a prayer movement for women to take a stand for peace, protection, and safety of children and young people on our streets."
